The AMVCA 2024 began with a cultural night with Africa’s finest in the movie industry, looking glamorous and stunning the red carpet in beautiful cultural pieces, representing diverse cultures all across Africa.

Nollywood stars, former BBN contestants and cousins, Neo Akpofure and Venita Akpofure won the bBest dressed couple, styled by Amy Aghomi, in a Bini attire, representing the great Benin people while Beauty Tukura won Best Dressed for the second time in a row, in a beautiful piece by Emagine by Bukola.

Nigerian Idol Host, seasoned presenter, T.V. Host and compere, I. K. Osakioduwa who has hosted the AMVCA for the past 9years, also marked his 10yrs anniversary as the host of the event. Returning to the red carpet as hosts were V. J. Adams who showed up in a black 2piece suit designed by Fresh by Dotun, Toke Makinwa stunned the red carpet in a beautiful piece by VeeKeeJames and Uti Nwachukwu stepping out in a red and blue 2piece outfit by Black Adudu.

On the other end of the spectrum, the worst dressed category had a few contenders vying for the title. From mismatched colors to questionable silhouettes, these fashion faux pas left us wondering what the stars were thinking when they got dressed that evening and to think this event is yearly to end up not coming with their A-game? Mmh!

In the realm of awards, Kehinde Bankole and Wale Ojo took home the coveted titles of Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively, for their outstanding performances in their respective roles. The movie Breathe of Life also took home the award for Best Movie, solidifying its place as a must-watch in the African film industry, no wonder, I watched it with someone cutting little onions beside me.

The winning movie ‘Breathe of Life’ won 5 awards in five different categories, including Best Movie, Best Lead Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Director.
